Happiness vs. Joy

Happiness is doing what you want, and joy is doing what God wants. This idea was brought to me by Thomas Hopko.

He really ministers to me. I have learned that it is better to suffer for the cause of Christ than to live a meaningless "successful" life. In doing that it causes you to ask, do I want external Happiness? or internal Joy? Even if it means that you have to die in order to recieve internal joy.

It's something worth thinking about. I am particuarly drawn to it because it means that you will have to start living in reality, and for some reason illusion is more appealing. I think living in reality will cause life to be painful, but at least it will be real and have value.
